Alkagesta said its banking partners provide more than US$1 billion in combined support through banking facilities and trade finance lines, highlighting the figure in an announcement about its Banking Partners Summit in Malta. The company described that financial backing as a basis for expanding both its worldwide trading business and its operations in Malta.
Held on 2 October at Alkagesta’s Malta headquarters, the full-day gathering brought together representatives of financial institutions from Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, the United Kingdom and Malta. Clearing partners also attended, alongside local industry and government stakeholders. According to Alkagesta, the agenda covered commodity trading, financing, risk controls and compliance, as well as Malta’s position as a centre for international trading activity.
Participants attended presentations at the company’s offices before visiting the Evos Malta terminal and meeting its management. The programme ended with a gala dinner, which Alkagesta said offered further scope for developing business relationships and discussing potential collaboration. The announcement did not name the participating banks or set out individual financing commitments.
Alkagesta linked its banking relationships to transparency, careful management of risk and adherence to regulatory requirements. It also highlighted the contribution of clearing partners, saying their services support market access, risk coverage and the execution and hedging of trading positions. The company presented these relationships as important elements of the financial and control arrangements underpinning its trading activities.
The announcement also promoted Malta’s appeal to commodity traders and trade finance providers, citing EU membership, its regulatory framework, financial services infrastructure and network of logistics and storage operators. Alkagesta characterised the summit as an effort to strengthen lasting partnerships across banks, clearing institutions, terminal operators and local stakeholders, with an emphasis on managing risk and supporting business growth.
