Biofuels Partners has signed a collaboration agreement with Jianglan Bio-Energy to explore international opportunities in used cooking oil (UCO), hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), Hydrocarbon Processing Biofuels reported. The agreement centres on transparent sourcing, sustainability and dependable commercial relationships across the renewable fuels supply chain.

Jianglan’s industrial development includes a UCO pretreatment facility with annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes and an HVO-SAF plant with the same annual capacity, according to the report. The facilities incorporate Desmet pretreatment technology and Topsoe HydroFlex technology. Jianglan also brings experience in UCO collection, with activities covering feedstock sourcing and pretreatment through to renewable fuel production.

The companies intend to examine opportunities in UCO and HVO-SAF supply, alongside broader renewable fuels partnerships. Biofuels Partners’ contribution includes feedstock sourcing expertise, strategic advice, support for sustainability certification and commercial development. The announcement describes an exploratory collaboration rather than setting out agreed supply volumes or a delivery timetable.

For Biofuels Partners, the basis for cooperation is evidence of feedstock origin, effective chain-of-custody controls and sustainability credentials verified independently. Those priorities will guide the joint work, together with the requirements of the markets receiving the material. The stated approach puts documentation and verification alongside the commercial opportunities under discussion.

The report also described meetings between Biofuels Partners partner and chief operating officer Paolo Corvo and the Jianglan team during the Global SAF Market & Sustainability Certification Summit in Zhoushan, China. Discussions included how to implement the sustainability priorities, alongside a visit to Jianglan’s new HVO-SAF plant. Hydrocarbon Processing Biofuels reported that China is developing its domestic HVO-SAF sustainability certification and traceability framework, with initiatives covering feedstock collection, fuel production and use.
