Alkagesta said Rustam Mirzoev represented the company throughout the five-day African Energy Week 2026 programme in Cape Town. In its announcement, the company described the gathering as bringing together energy executives, international investors and policymakers from both the public and private sectors, with participation spanning upstream, midstream and downstream businesses, renewables and energy services.
According to Alkagesta, the programme explored Africa’s position in global energy markets against a backdrop of geopolitical change. Discussions also examined the investment needs of African energy markets and the challenge of translating planned developments into completed projects. Those themes extended across electricity, hydrocarbons and renewable energy, rather than focusing on a single part of the sector.
Energy security featured among the subjects addressed, alongside Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for hydrocarbon growth. Alkagesta said the conference also considered financing for renewable energy development, the renewal of onshore and brownfield assets, and opportunities to develop frontier basins across the continent. The announcement presented these as conference themes, rather than company investment commitments.
Country-focused investment sessions covered Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Alkagesta said those discussions offered insight into regional opportunities relevant to Africa’s next round of exploration and production activity. The national sessions formed part of a wider programme examining both investment prospects and the practical steps required to deliver energy projects.
Alkagesta linked its attendance to its existing activity in African energy and commodity markets, including supplies of petroleum products and fertiliser in West and East Africa. The company said participation offered a chance to engage with policymakers, investors and industry leaders and strengthen relationships supporting its expanding African operations.
