Alkagesta attended Miller’s DayWithMiller workshops and Annual Cocktail Event in Paris on 8 October, according to a company announcement. The gathering attracted more than 400 participants from the commodity trade finance and risk sectors, including traders, banks, investment funds, development finance institutions, insurers and reinsurers.
The daytime programme was organised by Miller’s Credit, Surety and Political Risk team. Industry speakers addressed trade credit, political risk and commodity risk management through a series of workshops. Alkagesta said the discussions examined the financial and insurance arrangements supporting responsible commodity trading, with subjects ranging from credit and surety structures to marine cargo insurance and political risk cover.
According to Alkagesta, the sessions also offered participants an opportunity to discuss how major institutions handle risk management and compliance amid increasingly complex operating conditions. An evening reception followed the workshops, allowing attendees to continue discussions and develop contacts across the commodity industry’s finance and risk management community.
Alkagesta described participation in such gatherings as relevant to strengthening its risk management framework and developing relationships with insurance and reinsurance partners. The company also linked its attendance to its stated emphasis on compliance and governance across its international trading business. These priorities were presented as the company’s rationale for taking part, rather than as newly announced operational measures.
The announcement places biofuels alongside petroleum products, fertilisers and steel within Alkagesta’s trading activities, which it said extend across approximately 48 countries. Alkagesta said its network of trade finance, risk and insurance partners plays a central role in supporting those operations. The report did not disclose a new financing arrangement, insurance agreement or biofuel transaction.
